TRIP DETAILS

Thorong Peak, located in the Annapurna region, is one of the most popular peaks for climbing among other peaks. Most of the professional trekkers and climbers come to climb this peak shortly to mix up with the route of Thorong La Pass via the Annapurna round. This trail gives us the chance to observe the Dhaulagiri range, Annapurna range, Nilgiri Peak, Tilicho Peak, the wonderful landscape of the Mustang region with the world’s deepest gorge of the Kali Gandaki valley, etc., which will be a memorable trail. This trek is a glorious journey that traverses through beautiful trails along many Manangs and Gurung villages, set in the lap of the Himalayas.

Thorong Peak is relatively one of the easiest peak climbing destinations of Nepal, so that all the climbers who would like to summit this trail wouldn’t need any previous experience, but require good physical condition and stamina to walk along the difficult route of this trail. However, we will provide our best, experienced and professional team to coordinate with you and to submit successfully.

16-Day Thorong Peak climbing is a favourite amongst those who seek adventurous thrills. The highest point that you will be at during this trek is Thorong La Pass, which is at 5,416m. A trek for people who adore the existence and presence of glorious flora and fauna, this trek graces you with panoramic views of the stunning Annapurna range and the Tibetan range. Also, discover the incredible rhododendron forest in full bloom and juniper forests guaranteed to paint smiles across your faces.

With its combination of accessibility, scenic diversity, and cultural richness, Thorong Peak Climbing with Himalaya Sacred Trek and Expedition offers an unforgettable Himalayan adventure for both novice climbers and seasoned trekkers alike.

Itinerary

Day 01Arrival day in Kathmandu

We complete our customs formalities at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Afterwards, there will be a representative from our company who will take you to your hotel. We can then spend the rest of the day resting. In the evening, we get to try Nepalese cuisine at a welcome dinner hosted by our company. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02Preparation and Peak Briefing

Today is set aside for peak climbing preparation and briefing. We will organize and check all necessary climbing gear and equipment, review the climbing route and itinerary, and attend a detailed briefing. After completing the preparations, if time allows and participants are interested, we may explore nearby sites. This day ensures everyone is fully prepared as we begin our peak climbing journey from tomorrow.

Day 03Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (760m, 5 hours)

From Kathmandu valley, we will start our journey to a small but old town of Besisahar. The sight of hills as well as deteriorating rivers will keep us fascinated during the journey. The ride will be about seven to eight hours long. We will be spending the night in a local lodge after arriving at Besisahar.

Day 04Drive from Besisahar to Chame (2,650m, 4-5 hours)

After having breakfast, we will head towards Chame, viewing the beautiful scenery of the vicinity. On the way, we can view the beautiful region of Dharapani, crossing the great Marshyangdi River. The vegetation and settlements start to be different from here as we will be at a higher altitude. The influence of the Tibetan lifestyle is strong in Chame. Also, the view of the peak is beautiful from Chame, and we will spend the night in a local teahouse after arriving at Chame.

Day 05Trek from Chame to Lower Pisang (3,250m, 5-6 hours)

Today, our journey leads a trek to Pisang, a small village along the bank of the Marshyangdi River. We will walk through beautiful coniferous forests and small settlements of mountain people. A steep and narrow path through a very dense forest will bring us to a dramatic curved rock face, rising 1500m above the river. As the trail opens up, we get surrounded by majestic Himalayan peaks. After walking through these wonderful suites, we will reach Pisang. Overnight at Lower Pisang.

Day 06Trek from Lower Pisang to Manang (3,540m, 6-7 hours)

There are two routes that we can follow today. If you take the upper route, i.e, the route through Upper Pisang via Geru, the scenery will be outstanding. We feel like we are horizontally in front of the majestic peaks. The panoramic view of the mountain peaks, such as Annapurna, Pisang Peak, and several others, will definitely allure us. We notice a contrast with the landscape and vegetation from today onwards. The cold and dry climate creates a much harsher environment. We pay a memorable visit to the Barge monastery, the largest in the entire district of Manang. Overnight in Manang.

Day 07Rest Day at Manang for Acclimatization/ Exploration

Today is the scheduled acclimatization day. It is not recommended to stay idle, but a short walk to a higher altitude will be better to get acclimatised to the altitude. Manang is a good place to do that, as the next two days will be a very challenging and tiring trek for us with rapid gain in altitude. We should never be confident with the altitude and always be cautious. Bhojo Gompa or Gangapurna Lake is worth visiting from an acclimatization point of view. We made an easy excursion a little distance away to a village called Vraga, a small old village with a monastery. At this juncture, we also make our short trip to the Himalayan Rescue Association, where we can get some ideas about Mountain sickness. Overnight at Manang.

Day 08Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4,020m, 4-5 hours)

The road to Tilicho also parts its way from Manang. We will have a slow and steady ascent with beautiful views and delightful geography. This region is well known for its beauty and the diversity in culture. On the way, we will go to Ghunsang and cross the Ghyangchang River to reach the monastery. Moving ahead, we can see the pasturelands marking the arrival at yak kharka. Overnight stay at a lodge at Yak Kharka.

Day 09Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,540m, 6-7 hours)

Today, we will reach Thorong Phedi, which is situated at an altitude of 4,540m. Thorong Phedi is located at the base of the Thorong La pass (5,416m) and has some decent guesthouses. Our trail runs along the Kone River and continues towards Thorong Phedi after crossing it.  Here we can find many trekkers from all over the world, which is a good place for conversations and experience sharing.

Day 10Trek from Thorong Phedi to Thorong Base Camp (5,416m, 5-6 hours)

Today, we will reach Thorong Base Camp, which is a famous pass and will begin the ascent early in the morning to avoid strong winds. The pass is wide, making it relatively easy to walk on, but the journey can get challenging due to the unpredictable weather changes, and it is almost impossible to pass. It is also the world’s biggest pass and offers great views of the Annapurna.

Day 11Training and Rest Day

Our guides will provide training on peak climb techniques and the proper ways of using climbing gear such as the ice axe, climbing boots and crampons, harness, ascender, etc. The training will also use a rope to go up and down. We strongly believe that the training experience will boost your confidence and climbing skills to increase the chances of scaling the summit, as well as to fully enjoy the experience. After training, we will take a rest and enjoy the spectacular view of the Himalayan peaks.

Day 12Ascend to Summit (6,144m) & Descend to Muktinath (3,800m, 9-10 hours)

We will start climbing early so that the winds won’t affect us as much. As we begin the steep climb, we will be able to see the Kali Gandaki valley. As we reach the top, we will be blessed with magnificent views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. This is a great time to rejoice in the views of the Himalayas and also a great spot for photography. From here, we will make our way down a cliff to the small town of Muktinath. Overnight stay at a lodge at Muktinath.

Day 13Drive from Muktinath to Jomsom (2,740m) via Kagbeni (2,800m, 46 minutes)

We will drive to Jomsom via Kagbeni. After having lunch in Muktinath, we started our journey. We will traverse along the Traditional Thakali village and dense forests of pine and fir to reach Jomsom. Jomsom is famous for strong mid-day winds and has plenty of modern luxuries such as the internet and restaurants. Overnight at Jomsom.

Day 14Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (820m, 25 minutes)

On this day, we will fly back to Pokhara and then transfer you to your hotel in Pokhara. The offers scenic treats throughout, and the diverse landscapes and towering peaks are a relief to sore eyes. Upon reaching Pokhara, we can rest or enjoy the beautiful city and its attractions. The lakeside area is especially famous for offering lively nights.

Day 15Drive Back from Pokhara to Kathmandu (5-6 hours)

On this day, we will drive back to Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway. The drive presents beautiful roadside settlements and gorgeous landscapes all the way to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will transfer you to the hotel, and then you can rest or shop for souvenirs to mark the end of the adventurous journey. Stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 16Transport to Airport for Final Departure

Your adventure in Nepal comes to an end today! We will take you to the airport, approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. On your way home, you will have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
