Rolwaling Trek is situated between the Everest and Langtang Himalaya ranges, below Gauri Shankar (7,145m) and south of Tibet. This region lies between the Langtang range and the Everest range. Rolwaling valley trekking is one of the hard passes in the Everest Himalaya. Some of the highlights of this trek are the Rolwaling Valley, Khumbu, Tamang Village, and wonderful views.
The Rowling Valley is abundant with alpine lakes, hanging glaciers, moraines, high pastures, waterfalls, and an imminent view of snowy peaks in the backdrop. This region is rich in biological diversity, glacial lakes, mountains, and isolated villages.
16-Day Rolwaling trek offers an outstanding view of the Himalayas that lie along the north-eastern side of the finger land, and that cuts into Tibet to the northeast of the Kathmandu- Kodari – Lhasa highway. It forms the northern border of a wild, beautiful and seldom frequented valley below a string of some 50 peaks all over 6000m. Lt is crowned by the double peaks of Gaurishankar (7,145m/23,475ft) on the border and the peaks of Melungtse l (7,145m/23,475ft) on the border and the peaks of Melungtse l (7,181m) and (7,023m) in Tibet.
Rolwaling Valley Trek contains several small villages, the largest at Bedding, and is fed by the Rolwaling Khola and its numerous tributaries. In 2010, this area was declared a conservation area, known as the Gaurishankar Conservation Area, covering 2,179 square Kilometers. It is home to some 58,000 people, the largest group being Tamangs, followed by Sherpas and Chhetris.
With its remote terrain, challenging routes, and spectacular natural beauty, the Rolwaling Valley Trek with Himalaya Sacred Trek and Expedition is ideal for experienced trekkers seeking an authentic Himalayan adventure away from the crowded trails.

We complete our customs formalities at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Afterwards, there will be a representative from our company who will take you to your hotel. We can then spend the rest of the day resting. In the evening, we get to try Nepalese cuisine at a welcome dinner hosted by our company. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Today, we will start our preparation of the necessary materials, etc., needed for our trek. So, after finishing the work, if we have time and clients want to explore the famous heritage sites, then we could visit them. Then, after that, we began our real journey from tomorrow.
After leaving Kathmandu, we drove toward Chechet Khola via Charikot. Situated on a hilltop, Charikot offers scenic views of Gaurishankar Mountain, Melungtse, and other surrounding Himalayan peaks. The drive passes through charming rural villages and small towns, providing a glimpse of local life in the region.
Upon reaching Chechet, located near Jagat village, we began our trek. The trail ascends steadily for approximately two hours through forested paths and terraced hillsides, leading us to our first overnight stop at Simigaun.
From Simigaun, we will follow the trail that passes through additional Sherpa villages. With magnificent views of Gaurishankar just above the Rolwaling valley, we continue to follow the trail that heads through a beautiful pine forest before making a climb onto a rocky ridge. A gradual descent from the top of the ridge will lead us to Rolwaling Khola and then towards Dovan. Overnight at a tea house.
Leaving Dovan, we will continue to walk along the bank of the Rolwaling Khola. We walk through dense forest filled with rhododendrons and pine trees with the stunning views of Gaurishankar. After crossing the suspension bridge, we will gently ascend to an open plan area where the Sherpa village of Bedding is situated. Overnight at a tea house.
Day six is a crucial rest and acclimatization day at Beding, located at an altitude of approximately 3,690 meters in the Rolwaling Valley. This planned pause allows trekkers to adapt safely to the increasing altitude before continuing to higher elevations.
The day is spent staying in Beding and engaging in light activities such as short walks around the village, interacting with the local Sherpa community, and observing daily mountain life. If conditions and energy levels allow, a gentle acclimatization hike to a slightly higher elevation may be undertaken, following the principle of “climb high, sleep low” to support the body’s natural adjustment to thinner air.
Adequate rest, proper hydration, and close attention to individual physical conditions are emphasized throughout the day to minimize the risk of altitude-related issues and to ensure a safe and comfortable progression for the days ahead.
Today we will have a short and easy trekking day. From Bedding, we will make an easy gradient through fir trees. As the valley becomes broader and flatter, we continue our trek to reach Na village. Na is a scattered village where there are plenty of tea houses, and it offers good camping options. Overnight at a tea house.
Acclimatization is essential in higher altitudes. Hence, we will take a day’s rest at Naa village for acclimatization. Besides, Na provides a couple of good day hike options. We can head up the valley to a small kharka and follow the trail to Yalung peak base camp, which is a five-hour return trip. Or we can climb to the end of Tsho Rolpa Lake for the views of Kang Nachago above Na, which takes four hours for a return trip. Overnight at a tea house.
We climb up to the dam that holds back the Tsho Rolpa lake, preventing it from splitting the thin moraine and destroying the valleys below. We continue along the south bank. (The ancient route, marked on all maps, following the northern bank and passing through Chobu, no longer exists. In fact, the moraines bordering the lake have all collapsed into it.) After a 300m climb, we must cross a disordered moraine area only to scramble down the height we walked up. The campsite is in a sandy amphitheatre, between the Tsho Rolpa and Trakarding glaciers. Overnight at a camp.
The path plunges on towards the Trakarding glacier. This is a huge, impressive, and rocky area that gives way, from time to time, to large sections of blush ice. We’ll struggle on towards a rocky spur, just beneath the Drolambu glacier. It is now quite a venture to access the glacier. We need to climb up a rock face and to set a rope for the porters, helping them to scramble up the 160m before accessing the campsite area. This provides a fantastic panorama with the Trakarding glacier below and the great glacial wall of the Drolambu glacier to the north: an incredible spot with views of countless streams running off the glacier, falling rocks and collapsing ice. Overnight at a camp.
The only route to get a foothold on the Drolambu glacier is tricky and fairly steep. Our efforts will be rewarded by a unique view towards Tengi Ragi Tau (6,943), Bigphero-Go shar (6,729m), and Dragkar-Go (6,793m), with a background of myriad peaks towards and beyond the Tibetan border. We progress through moraines and gentle slopes, from time to time crossing glacial areas, towards the summit. After crossing the Tashi Lapcha Pass, we descend towards Thengpo, where we will set up our camp.
Today offers an easy and pleasant descent. Just before arriving in the tiny Sherpa village of Thame, we can visit its picturesque monastery perched on the hillside. Thame lies on an important route for Tibetan traders and their yak caravans trekking across the Nangpa la (5,716m) on the Tibetan border to Namche Bazaar and beyond. Overnight at a lodge.
Today we descended towards Namche Bazaar after having breakfast. From Thame, we walk the trail along the Bhote-Koshi River. Descending gently towards Phunki Tenga, we continue on our route by crossing a bridge over Dudh Koshi Passing through several villages and teahouses along the route, and finally reach Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa Capital. Overnight at a lodge.
After having breakfast in Namche, we will slowly move down the steep path crossing the Dudh Koshi river bridge. We will see various small gompas, animals like yaks, prayer flags, and green nature covered with beautiful rhododendron flowers. After walking for a few hours, we will get into some of the villages and on the way, we can see Lukla appearing beautiful and fascinating from a far distance. Then we will finally reach Lukla and enjoy the success of the trip, which will be our last night in the Himalayas.
Morning transfer to Lukla Tenzing-Hillary airport for a short sweeping flight to Manthali airport located in Ramechhap district, facing scenic views of mountains, green scenery of hills and farm fields with nice villages and towns as the flight lands at Manthali airport and drive back to Kathmandu and stay overnight.
Your adventure in Nepal comes to an end today! We will take you to the airport, approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. On your way home, you will have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
