The 47 km river, Marshyandi (locally known as the raging river of Nepal), is said to be the most magnificent class 5 rafting and kayaking river in the world. The river rises from the northern slopes of the Annapurna, flows east through the valley of Mangang, and joins the Trishuli river are technical and require a different approach. This river is one of thetributaries of the  Manaslu and Annapurna.

The best seasons to join this intense and extreme rafting trip are October to December. Recently opened for commercialized rafting, the Marshyangdi is one of the best rafting routes in Nepal with continuous rapids of class 4 and 5. The combination of a thrilling rafting experience and magnificent scenery, Marhyangdi rafting is the perfect option for those seeking an adventurous trip.

Itinerary

Day 01 Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (7-8 hours) and Set Camp at Khudi

A picturesque drive of about 8 hours takes us to Besisahar. A little further from Besisahar is Khudi, where we will set our camp for the night under the marvelous glow of the stars. Overnight in a tented camp. 

Day 02Trek from Khudi to Ngadi, Raft to Khudi

Two hours of trekking will lead us to Ngadi, which marks the embarkation point for the Marshyangdi River rafting. Floating back to Khudi offers spectacular views of Manaslu mountain, while we face rapids that go by the names of Instant Karma, Twinkle, Adrenaline, and Mama’s Big Butt near Bhulbhule. Overnight in a tented camp. 

Day 03Raft from Khudi to Besisahar

Today, we will float all the way down to Besisahar, sailing on the crystal blue water with views of trees clinging to the canyon walls and mountains suspended high above the forested ridge. Overnight in Besisahar.

Day 04Raft from Besisahar to Bhote Wodar via Phaliya Sanghu

An early morning raft ride of about 3 hours leads us to the recently built dam at Phaliya Sanghu, where the whole river is squeezed between vertical walls that rise 200ft to a suspension bridge. Leaving Phaliya Sanghu behind, we sail forward to Bhotewodar, where we call it a day, taking in the scenic mountain views. Overnight in a tented camp.

Day 05Raft to a Point near Bimal Nagar, Drive Back to Kathmandu

This day marks the end of Marshyangdi River rafting as we pass through a high-walled gorge with birds and vegetation to Bimal Nagar, the end point of Marshyangdi River Rafting. We will take a drive back to Kathmandu. Farewell dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
