Here, you can experience the Hyolmo culture of high mountain people. The company of green rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls and snow-capped Himalayas make the trek one of the most diverse treks essential and accessible from Kathmandu.

The next day, the trail continues to Kutumsang, offering beautiful views of the Langtang range along the way. From Kutumsang, the trek ascends to Thadepati through steep trails lined with fir and rhododendron forests. The following day, you trek to Tarke Gyang, crossing the Melamchi River and entering the heart of the Helambu region, rich in Hyolmo culture and traditional village life.

After reaching Sundarijal, we will start our first hike ascending to the top of Sundarijal with the amazing sounds of the river and waterfalls. The guide will deal with the Shivapuri check post for the permit after reaching the top. Then, we will even visit the spiritual temple of Sundarijal on the riverside.

Again, we will start our trek through green and peaceful forests, and we will even see large water projects. Then we will reach Borlang Bhanjyang (2,440m), where our route will be accompanied by beautiful oaks and rhododendrons until we reach Chisapani. We will stay overnight in Chisapani in a hotel with an amazing view of himalayas and Kathmandu city.

Day 03Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang (2,470m, 7 hours)

On the second day of the trip, today we will make our easy trek to reach Kutumsang (2,470m). After the fresh breakfast in Chisapani, we will slowly ascend through forests and mani stones. As we continue our trail, the settlement slowly disappears, and the trek gets wilder. After a few hours of trek, we will reach Lapcha, and we will have scenic views of Ganesh Himal and Jugal Himal.

As the trail continues, we will reach Lower Thodung (2,160m), and we will even explore the Lama complex, brushed with the taste of fine paintings and modern sophistications, jammed with the Tibetan touch. Then, we will head by the path of grassy meadows reaching Gul Bhanjyang (2,130m). After a few hours, we will reach Kutumsang for our night’s stay.

Day 04Trek from Kutumsang to Thadepati (3,690m, 6-7 hours)

After the beautiful night in Kutumsang. Today, we will make our starting trail through a wide and airy trail. We will cross through various lodges and hotels, even with amazing present heavenly views. After a few hours of trek, we will reach Magengoth (3,420m), and slowly we will ascend to Tharepati (3,690m) with the exciting, easy and relaxing trek through wispy wind blowing through willow trees. We will even see chortens (Buddhist prayer statues) on the way.

Day 05Trek from Thadepati to Tarke Gyang (2,550m, 6 hours)

Enjoying breakfast in Thadepati, we will slowly start our trek descending towards Melamchi Khola through the pleasant forests of pine and Rhododendron forest after a few hours of trek. We will be able to see the beauty of the Sherpa settlement in Melamchi Gaon (2,530m). We can explore the glossy Gompa (monastery) present in this village.

After a few hours, we will cross the suspension bridge over Melamchi Khola. Then we will slowly make a steep climb that directly leads us to Tarke Gyang. On the way, we can see the Tibetan chortens, prayer flags and several hamlets with Mani walls. Finally, we will visit Tarke Gyang, which is popularly known as Helambu, due to the inhabitants of Helmu people. It epitomises the high altitude of Mustang village with cluster houses and congested cobbled lanes. Then we will spend our peaceful nights in a tea house.

Day 06Acclimatization Day, Hike to Amayangry Hill (3,080m)

After the regular hike of 4 days, today we will make a destination to reach Amayangry hill (3,080m), the highest altitude point of the trek. After a fresh breakfast in the morning, we will start our hike. We will hike for 2-3 hours to reach the top of the hill through dense Rhododendron and pine forests. We will be able to explore the amazing view of Langtang Lirung to the north and Kanchenjunga to the west from the chorten-topped hill. Day 07Trek from Tarke Gyang to Sermathang (2,610m, 4-5 hours)

Leaving behind the beauty of Helambu village with a stunning view from the top of the hill, we will make our next move to Sermathang after breakfast. As the trek won’t be gaining altitude, we will feel easy and move quickly with the up and down trail. With the easy hike through forests, we will even cross some streams and waterfalls on the way. After a few hours of hiking, we will reach Gangyul village, where the Sherpa people live mostly. Then we will slowly reach Sermathang, where we will be able to explore three large gompas with the beauty of this warm-hearted village. Stay overnight in a tea house.
