TRIP DETAILS

Putha Hiunchuli (7,246m) is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful seven-thousand-meter peaks in Nepal. Also known as Dhaulagiri VII, the mountain marks the western end of the Dhaulagiri Himal range. Geographically, it lies at the junction of three provinces: Gandaki to the east, Lumbini to the west, and Karnali to the north. The peak features four distinct ridges radiating in all directions and is bounded by Churen Himal and Dhaulagiri IV to the east, with a series of smaller, unnamed peaks on the remaining sides.

Putha Hiunchuli was first climbed in 1954 by J. O. M. (Jimmy) Roberts and Ang Nyima Sherpa via the Northeast Face. Jimmy Roberts, a pioneering explorer and mountaineer, is often referred to as the “Father of Trekking in Nepal”, having established the country’s first trekking company in 1964. According to the book High Asia, Roberts conducted a reconnaissance of the Dhaulagiri massif during this expedition, and the route they pioneered on the NE face remains the standard line of ascent today. In recent years, Putha Hiunchuli has also gained recognition as a ski peak, with its northern slopes offering excellent terrain for ski descents.

Our expedition begins from Juphal-Dunai, approximately a week’s trek from German Base Camp at an altitude of 4,525 m. The approach walk is as captivating as the climb itself, passing through a remote and little-visited region that retains its pristine wilderness character. The Base Camp, established on the northern side at 4,910 m, serves as the starting point for the ascent. From there, the route progresses to Camp I (5,300 m), Camp II (5,900 m), Camp III (6,300 m), and finally to the summit.

With our veteran guides, top-quality equipment, and experienced expedition management, Himalaya Sacred Trek and Expedition are committed to providing the highest level of support to help you realize your dream of summiting this magnificent Himalayan peak.
