The Tukuche peak is located in the western Nepal Himalayas between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Although relatively less explored, Tukuche is one of the most exotic mountain climbs in Nepal. Despite being a technical climb, it’s nonetheless a favourite training mountain among prospective 8,000er climbers. The peak lies north of the exotic hidden valley. The summit of Tukuche peak also offers great vistas of the surrounding Himalayas, including the Annapurna range, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, and the nearby villages such as Marpha and Jomsom. The peak was first climbed by the Swiss team in 1969.Â
26-Day Tukuche Peak Expedition begins with flights from Kathmandu to Pokhara and Pokhara to Jomsom. From Jomsom, we head west to the Marpha village, Yak Kharka, and Tukuche base camp. After proper acclimation and training, we summit the Tukuche peak and return via the same route. From Jomsom, we make a return flight to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu.Â
The trekking approach to Tukuche Peak is relatively straightforward and adventurous, but the summit climb itself is demanding and technical, requiring the use of specialized mountaineering equipment. Climbers must be physically and mentally fit, with strong endurance and stamina, as the ascent involves sustained effort in high-altitude conditions. With expert guidance, proper logistics, and a strong emphasis on safety, Himalaya Sacred Trek and Expedition ensures a challenging yet highly rewarding mountaineering experience.
Climbing Tukuche Peak offers an excellent opportunity to build technical skills, gain confidence at altitude, and experience one of Nepal’s lesser-known but spectacular Himalayan summits.
