TRIP DETAILS

Annapurna Expedition is one of the most popular and most preferred expeditions in Nepal through several Adventure legends. Annapurna is one of the most technical mountains; for that reason, it has a fatality-to-summit ratio. The climb is a serious adventure and one of the most difficult 8000m peaks in the world. But there is a hope, a new route was used this year, and it will be the best and safest route to climb moving forward.

Mt. Annapurna rises east of the Kali Gandaki gorge, separating it from the Dhaulagiri massif, which is 34 km to the west, and the gorge between is considered Earth’s deepest. In Sanskrit, Annapurna means “full of food” and is normally translated as the goddess of the Harvest. In Hinduism, Annapurna is “the universal and timeless kitchen goddess (the mother who feeds). Without her, there is starvation and a universal fear; this makes Annapurna a universal goddess.

Mt. Annapurna I was the first 8000m peak to be climbed by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal, of a French expedition led by Maurice Herzog on 3 June 1950. Its summit was the highest attained on Earth for three years, until the first successful ascent of Mt.Everest. Annapurna I (8,091m) is the 10th highest mountain in the world and the eighth highest mountain in Nepal. It is the lowest 8000m peak, but it is one of the most technically challenging peaks in the Himalayas.

The Annapurna massif contains six major peaks: Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Annapurna VI in the south (7,219m). The best seasons to climb the Annapurna I are Spring and Autumn. The expedition’s minimum group size is 2, and the maximum group size is 14.

Organized by Himalaya Sacred Trek and Expedition, the Annapurna Expedition demands excellent physical conditioning, strong mental endurance, and prior high-altitude mountaineering experience. Each climber must possess solid technical skills, glacier travel knowledge, and the ability to operate safely in extreme alpine conditions.

Highlight of the Annapurna I Expedition:

  • Summit Mount Annapurna 8,091m (World’s Tenth Highest Mountain)
  • Stunning view of the Himalayas from the top of the Annapurna
  • Encounter the ethnic community culture
  • Visit the cultural world heritage sites of Kathmandu city
  • Adventurous hikes towards Annapurna Base Camp.

While the ceremony takes place, our crew will work on fixing ropes along the climbing route to ensure safety and efficiency. Following this, we will carry out multiple rotations between the higher camps and Base Camp. These rotations will help us to train on snow and ice terrain, improve our technical skills, and allow our bodies to acclimatize properly, preparing us mentally and physically for the final summit push.
